Screen Trek - December 2009

CALLING ALL FILM REVIEWERS!!

December 22nd 2009 05:56
Paramount has just confirmed ALL clips taken from BLIPTV are no longer usable.

The man with the "key" to the problem is uncontactable, so it will be some time after the Christmas holidays before Paramount can get the problem worked out with BlipTV.

Paramount has suggested swapping over any clips from either dailymotion or metacafe, the first doesn't work for my site at screentrek, so I am hoping metacafe will do the trick.

So, if you have posted any clips from BlipTV, no matter when, they do not work now!

Go forth and change over, but be advised to check what works with your site, and I was advised not to use YouTube clips, for copyright reasons.

Cheers and good luck!

NEWS FLASH: BlipTV dumps Paramount!

December 22nd 2009 05:23
I have just been advised by Paramount Pictures that their access to BlipTV, where a lot of us get our clips for the latest and upcoming Paramount films, has been dropped from the site.

Paramount is unable to explain why this has happened, but I am led to believe they are (understandably) extremely angry about it.

Why would BlipTV drop one of the biggest and oldest film production companies and international distributors of major films? That is anyone's guess right now.

I have had to resort to using the dailymotion site, but on embedding their player with the Iron Man 2 clip in it, I do not get the player, but when you click on the info line, below the black space where the player should appear, you instead get referred to the dailymotion site to watch it there.

This will be an annoyance for screentrek (and all other film sites) viewers and it takes the traffic away from our own sites here on Orble.

I have asked Paramount for more details if and when they can establish what is going on, and until then, I am at the mercy of the predicament at hand.

Please be patient with screentrek's difficulties, and all other film sites here at Orble, we will fix it as soon as possible.

Cheers and thanks,

ALL RIGHTS RESERVED COPYRIGHT PARAMOUNT PICTURES, DreamWorks Pictures, Film4 Productions, Wingnut Films

Based on the critically acclaimed best-selling novel by Alice Sebold, and directed by Oscar® winner Peter Jackson from a screenplay by Peter Jackson & Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens, “The Lovely Bones” centres on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family – and her killer – from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal. Oscar® nominee Mark Wahlberg and Oscar® winners Rachel Weisz and Susan Sarandon star along with Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli and Oscar® nominee Saoirse Ronan.

The Oscar® winning cinematographer, Andrew Lesnie, is once again teaming up with director Peter Jackson on this film, so you can expect atmospheric lighting and engrossing camera work that heightens the experience.

Interesting oddball fact:
The cinematographer, Andrew Lesnie, is an Australian and he was the cinematographer (DOP) on my first feature film job, Emoh Ruo (titled in USA as Housebroken).

Also, Lesnie shared the cinematography with Dean Semler, on Melba the TV mini series, I was the art department runner.

Lesnie is a genius...sadly I am not!

Yet another sneak peek at an Iron Man 2 poster! This just released poster shows Stark's face under the helmet and he doesn't look too happy...

In fact, Stark looks mighty mean and mad, and from what I hear he has to be, to defeat the pantheon of killer maniacs from the wonderfully bizarre world of Marvel Comics supervillains

The Storm Warriors: review with trailer

December 2nd 2009 11:50
A battle scene in The Storm Warriors

The Storm Warriors is being promoted as the biggest CGI film to date and the biggest and most expensive martial arts film ever made. This is not a sequel, as such, to the successful Storm Riders (1998); it is a new storyline with the same leads, pop idols Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng, both of whom reprise their original warrior roles as Striding Cloud (Kwok) and Whispering Wind (Cheng
