What is Lovely Bones about?

In 1973, Susie Salmon is murdered by a neighbour, George Harvey, a serial killer. She finds herself in heaven, observing her family as they grieve for her. She also watches her killer who, having covered his tracks, is preparing to murder again.

Based on the critically acclaimed best-selling novel by Alice Sebold, and directed by Oscar® winner Peter Jackson from a screenplay by Peter Jackson & Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens, “The Lovely Bones” centres on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family – and her killer – from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal. Oscar® nominee Mark Wahlberg and Oscar® winners Rachel Weisz and Susan Sarandon star along with Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli and Oscar® nominee Saoirse Ronan.

The Oscar® winning cinematographer, Andrew Lesnie, is once again teaming up with director Peter Jackson on this film, so you can expect atmospheric lighting and engrossing camera work that heightens the experience.

Interesting oddball fact:
The cinematographer, Andrew Lesnie, is an Australian and he was the cinematographer (DOP) on my first feature film job, Emoh Ruo (titled in USA as Housebroken).

Also, Lesnie shared the cinematography with Dean Semler, on Melba the TV mini series, I was the art department runner.

Lesnie is a genius...sadly I am not!
