Watch MONSTERS ONLINE NOW!

The next big cult hit, Monsters, by directorial debutante Gareth Edwards, set for release in Australia next month, is now available online, at ITUNES (trade mark).
You will have to access the USA site, as they have blocked it in Oz till after it opens, naturally, but a "rental" is only US$10-99 for the HD version at 3.17gig download, or the normal version at US$9-99 at 1.28GIG download.
So, all in all, a good deal really.
I must say, I am new to this aspect of the net, and can see it is only going to increase, it will become the current era threat to cinemas, no doubt, but as the past has proven, we just can't stay out of a good old cinema with that huge screen for long.
Checking out the trailer, and also having read Bryn's excellent take on it, on his film review site Horrorphile (and thankfully there is a spoiler warning mid way his review, so you can choose to read on or not), I say Bryn's opinion is to be respected and so I have no hesitation supporting his view, that Monsters will prove a great piece of entertainment.
Without seeing it yet, I think this film has all the potential to become another cult classic. It is also another milestone in cinematic history, a first for the combo of director/writer/designer/DOP (Gareth Edwards) that has achieved wide screen release internationally.
Just from the look of the trailers, Edwards is obviously a new talent who will become one of the great auteurs of cinema. Allegedly shot for a ludicrously tiny US$15,000-, (just like Paranormal Activity) it already has critics refusing to believe it was possible, such is the extraordinary CGI and other tech, which gives it the look of a multi-million dollar production.
The fact that Edwards was an amazingly talented master of all things computer animated obviously helped control the budget. However, on researching I find that the overall end budget was 250,000 English pounds. That is still a tiny budget for a film that looks so good.
But, don't take my word for it, check out the trailer which has interviews and nice clips, and check out Bryn's excellent review on Horrorphile, and if you just cannot wait, check the entire film out online RIGHT NOW, at the USA site of ITUNES(trade mark).
Here is the short trailer for the film:

Monsters is now available for viewing online on ITUNES (trade mark).
So, if you just cannot wait, follow the link to ITUNES to organize downloading the movie. ITUNES SITE
Personally, I think it would be a better and much more satisfying experience to watch it the first time on the big silver screen... it is up to you!

Agreed audiences need to see this movie on the big screen though!!! I find it crazy that they're offering it as a download so soon ...
So 250g UK huh? That's mighty different than the purported $US15g ... Why such discrepancy? Was the American budget tag entirely a publicity ruse? I hate that. Perhaps the end cost was the remuneration fees for the actors ...?? Or perhaps the fee for the composer?? I love the music.
BTW, it's horrorphile, not horrorfile .. (although curiously you got the url right, so was it intentional?)

QUOTE ME NO QUOTES!
my pleasure!
And OOPS! No it was a dumb-arse spelling/typo, I get a bit dyslexic when tired at times and phonetic oddly, sorry about that chief! I'll fix that now.
And yeah, I think the end game of 250K English quid is looking more like it, probably as you say, the add ons at the end like the composer's costs, maybe some cast fees, or just promo costs?
At any rate , it sure as hell is cheap even at AUS$550K.
I'm going to wait till it's in cinema, and yes, it is odd that, down loading before release, maybe they are counting on a second wave, of those who download who then decide they must see it on the big screen and bring their mates too, and of course it probably cuts out the pirate market initially.
Interesting, I wonder whether we will see more of this kind of marketing, oh, of course, maybe that is just it, a cheaper form of marketing...doh!
cheers
