Morning Glory: newly released trailer

Morning Glory
image copyrighted see below

Morning Glory has had its latest trailer released by Paramount Pictures; it has a small solar system of stars, and starlets, and looks like it just might avoid that oft seen disappointment, of promising much and delivering little, because it blew its budget on stars instead of developing a witty script.

Director Roger Michell steered Notting Hill, which was an enjoyable enough light romantic comedy, so it will be interesting to see what he manages with this vehicle.
I do hope it delivers a bigger punch...
PLOT LINE:
A successful TV producer is told to save a morning show program on the skids, and encounters the feuding between its high-profile anchors.

DIRECTOR:
Roger Michell (director of "Notting Hill")

WRITER:
Aline Brosh McKenna (writer of "The Devil Wears Prada")

STARRING:
Harrison Ford
Jeff Goldblum
Diane Keaton
50 Cent (Rapper)
Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes, The Time travellor's Wife)
Don Roy King (director of Saturday Nigth Live)

Sounds far to derivative for me and I am a big fan of Broadcast News, Soapdish etc.

Harrison Ford seems to limit himself with every new choice. When will someone cast him as a man with demons to wrestle or an outright loser who is worse off at the end that the beginning. I know he has the ability but seldom tries. I think Frantic was his last great role. he would have been great in the Tommy Lee Jones role in No Country for Old Men.

I think Ford plays it very safe in choicing his roles these days JD, especially when he's almost semi-retired - kind of. He wouldn't touch a really dark, eye-opening role with a barge pole and I guess producers would be reluctant to offer them to him anyway.

Hoping the best with this one too foggy, I still have a soft spot for the guy regardless. To be honest I haven't seen any of his recent films, other than Indy 4 (which I'm still trying to forget exists!). Last one I saw before that was What Lies Beneath 10 years ago, which was pretty good. Last great role? Undoubtedly Six Days Seven Nights. Thought it was ace!

Hi JD,
I absolutely agree on Ford for No Country, that would have been interesting, and yes, it seems he is either being sidelined from the big dramatic roles or he is just too disinterested in a challenge, it would be interesting to know what is going on with him.

Now, I sitll think you should give this a go, you never know...tee hee!

cheers

Hi Dave,
thanks for commenting,

yeah Indiana 4 was utter crap, it was almost as if Spielberg had been given a disinformation/discredit brief, that is, to make an alien presence on Earth appear ridiculous.

Interestingly, Spielberg did a 180 on that subject some years back, after indirectly supporting disclosure for years, and publicly stating he did believe we were not alone, he suddenly said it was all bull, coz a Pres told him so... but two of them also said they saw one, Reagan and Carter!

Anyhoo, I still want to believe Ford is waiting for the chance to sink his teeth into something, as I have never heard of an actor retiring, that usually happens when they are either half dead or are just crap and need an excuse for not being employed!

cheers
